Question:
I m working as a tester in one company since September 2004. There are 5 testers and 1 team leader in our company.
Its a small company. When I joined my company I worked on 4 projects as a tester. But from last month there is
no work for our testing team. I am getting frustrated. I think our new project will start from May 5. What should
I do? I want to move out. Shall I leave company?

Answer:
You should be using your time wisely. Just because there is no work assigned to you doesn't mean that you don't
have things to do.
You should look at the products or projects that you have recently released
and find out if you missed any defects.
You should be learning new techniques and studying new tools that are
applicable.
You should be learning how to program in a scripting language such as Perl,
Ruby, Python, TCL, or Visual Basic (whatever makes most sense for your
environment but there is a push to make Ruby a testing language).
You should be preparing for the next testing cycle by creating templates and
determining what metrics you can be watching.
You should be experimenting with back-up and restore tools for your test lab
such as Ghost, Drive Image, and Frisbee.
You should get off your butt and show some initiative.

Answer:
If your company calls you a Testing Guru, that's OK.
If they say you're a PhD of Testing, you have a problem.
Engineer is actually a granted title, but people don't always agree or know
the facts.
Ask any "real" engineer. My cousin went to university for seven years (four
under grad, and three in grad school) all in engineering programs. He graduated as a Master of Engineering, but
not as an engineer. He still has to be certified by a board before he can wear that title. This requires two years
of work experience in the job of Civil Engineering (his chosen field) and then another two years under a certified
engineer who will report to the board.
It absolutely bugs him that it's so easy to get a testing engineering certification. It only takes a test and a
few other requirements (depending
on the grantee).
Engineering IS a certification, not a title handed to you by an employer.
I too have been incorrectly called a testing engineer by a past employer. Perhaps you can now rectify the situation
where you have chosen to give a
title to someone who has not earned it.

Answer:
1)When you don't have any Testing Work in the Office, try to Improve the
Knowledge on the Other Testing Tools. You can get a Demo version of
other Testing Tools, which are Interested in and try to get more
information on the Other Tools also. Then Compare the features present
in the Tool which are Using and the Tool which you are learning.
2)Apply for Testing Certification...
There are Many Ways to Improve the Knowledge...
Hardly, you have worked for 7 Seven Months and now you want to Resign?
There are lot of people in the Market who are Struggling to get in to
Testing Field. And you want to resign...
Please, Excuse me... If my Words are Harsh Towards you....
My Intention is just to Say... Don't resign the Job... Improve you knowledge... Even if you don't have work.. They
are paying you.. Why do you bother than? Just find the ways where you can improve your knowledge.
